  My dazzling Junior High B team second string football career ended in the dirt here one night. I was hauling my long legged skinny uncoordinated butt down field as an Angleton Wildcat on a kickoff. I was planning on getting in range to tackle the West Columbia Roughneck receiver when a streak of color hit me right in the knees. I plowed up half of West Columbia with my face mask and lay there weighing my likelihood of being a NFL superstar versus my likelihood of having arthroscopic surgery before I was 30. I got up and hobbled to the sidelines with the encouraging words of Coach McCloud ringing in my ears "Glad you finally got up, Carr! I thought I was going to have to go get you!" I decided football wasn't fun after that. I did get the knee surgery at thirty, after a stint in the Corps and then again after vigorous full contact (Ted's ill advised 'Train the Way You Fight') PPCT training in Colorado Dept of Corrections.
